  • Do I need to have sailing experience to rent a motorboat from you?

    No prior sailing experience is required, but we do ask that you attend a two-hour sailing briefing before departure. You can reserve this when booking.

  • Do I need a boating license to rent a boat?

    No boating license is required to rent a boat at Jachtwerf Oost. Before your departure, we'll provide instructions and give you a short tour of the boat.

  • Do you also offer instruction or training in using the motorboat?

    Absolutely! Before your departure, you'll receive a brief instruction on your rented motorboat, where we'll familiarize you with its operation and share some helpful (sailing) tips. But if you'd like more practice and instruction, we're also available. We offer various boating training courses that cover various aspects of motorboating, such as maneuvering, mooring, and navigation regulations. You can choose between 2, 3, or 8 hours of boating training.

  • How can I book a motorboat with your company?

    You can book a motorboat in our online booking system, optionally with extras such as dinghy rental, towel sets, kitchen towels, pillows, sheets, or duvet covers, including bed-making. Bookings can also be made by phone or even at our office, for example, if you'd like to view a boat before deciding to book.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    We are affiliated with HISWA. For our cancellation policy, please visit this page.

    We recommend that you take out cancellation insurance, travel insurance, and accident insurance for your trip with your own insurer.

  • What are the rental periods at Jachtwerf Oost?

    Our motor yachts are available for rent for anything from a weekend or midweek to a week or longer. Longer stays on the water with one of our motorboats are also possible upon request.

  • What are the departure days and times?

    Our departures are on Mondays and Fridays. Departures are from 3:00 PM. If you expect to arrive in Akkrum after 5:00 PM on your departure day, please notify us in advance.

  • When do I have to return the rented motorboat?

    Our changes are on Mondays and Fridays. On the last day of your booking, your boat, fueled up, is expected back at our marina at 9:30 AM. You can refuel at the marina. We will then sail the boat to the berth, where you can unload your luggage.

  • Do I need to identify myself at Jachtwerf Oost?

    Before departure, we require a copy of a valid ID for the person who made the reservation and for a second passenger. Please ensure you have this ready at check-in.

  • Are there any additional costs I should be aware of when renting a boat?

    If you're going sailing, you may encounter fees for bridges and moorings along the way. You can stay overnight for free at one of the many Marrekrite moorings. Each motorboat in our fleet has its own Marrekrite pennant, allowing you to take advantage of this option.

  • What about fuel costs and how are they calculated?

    The fuel tank of your rented motor yacht will be full when you depart. We are happy to receive the boat back with a full tank. Fuel consumption varies for every boat. This depends on the size of the motorboat, your sailing style, weather conditions, and the cruising area, which also affects the amount of fuel you use.

  • Do I have to pay a deposit?

    We ask you to pay a deposit upon rental. This varies per boat and ranges from €850 to €1150. The deposit is due before departure. We prefer cash, but you can also pay by debit card or EC card. We do not accept credit cards. The deposit will be refunded in the same way you paid it. You will receive it back from us in cash or electronically.

  • What amenities are included when renting a motorboat?

  • Are pets allowed on board the rental boats?

    Pets are allowed on all motorboats in our fleet, except on the motorboat “Pelicaen”.

     

  • What are the opening hours of your rental location?

    Our office is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We are generally at the shipyard until 5:00 PM.

  • Can you recommend sailing routes or destinations to explore with the rented boat?

    There are many sailing options from our harbor in Akkrum. We are happy to provide you with various routes on paper, and nautical maps are available on board.

    We are happy to recommend various routes through the nearby National Parks:

    • De Oude Venen National Park in Friesland
    • Drents-Friese Wold National Park on the border of Drenthe and Friesland
    • Weerribben National Park in Overijssel
    • Dwingelderveld National Park in Drenthe

    You can also set a course for:

    • The IJsselmeer (up to a maximum wind force of 4)
    • The Wadden Sea (up to a maximum wind force of 4)
    • The Lauwersmeer area in the province of Groningen
  • Can I also rent extras?

    You can also rent an inflatable boat with a motor from us. This offers you extra flexibility and freedom to enjoy your boating holiday even more! You can use a dinghy to quickly run errands, take a day trip, or visit places along the way that are inaccessible with the draft of a motorboat.

    You can also rent a linen package, a towel package, and a pillow/duvet and sheet set, including making the bed.

    Deck chairs are provided as standard, but for comfortable seating anywhere on deck, you can rent a portable comfort seat from us.

    When booking, you can indicate which additional services you would like to use.

  • Are life jackets and/or other safety equipment included in the rental?

    You can add inflatable life jackets to your booking during the booking process. These are not included in the rental price. Standard life jackets (child and adult) are available free of charge on board. Please inquire beforehand to ensure we have the correct size available.

  • Are there any restrictions on where I can sail with the rented motorboat?

    As long as there is sufficient draft and height for your rented motorboat, there are no restrictions. However, for sailing on the IJsselmeer and the Wadden Sea, the maximum wind speed is force 4.

  • What should I do in case of breakdown or technical problems during my rental period?

    Because something can always happen along the way that requires roadside assistance, we are available 24/7. Upon departure, you will receive a mobile phone number to use in this situation. We will then work with you to find a solution. Depending on the time and your location at that time, either an in-house mechanic or an external assistance service will be available to assist you.

  • Can I park and charge my car at Jachtwerf Oost during my sailing holiday?

    You can park for free in our parking lot, which is equipped with cameras. Charging electric cars is not permitted on our property.

  • Order groceries and have them delivered to the port

    If you'd like to leave with a full refrigerator, you can order your groceries from the supermarket in Akkrum and have them delivered to us. Please let us know in advance, as we have limited (refrigerated) storage capacity.

  • Can I take bicycles on board?

    We advise you not to bring bicycles on board. They take up a lot of space and often get in the way. Fortunately, there are numerous local bike rental shops along your route where you can easily rent a bike.
